Fest Recap

Thanks to everyone that came out to enjoy another weekend o riding for Memorial Day in the Lyons area. This year's fest completely blew away expectations and everyone still managed to have a smile on their face! We'll definitely be back next year with even more goodness lined up. We did manage to take a few pics, too!
These first two pics are courtesy of Cellarat. Thanks for the great shots, Dave. His was the only camera present on the Friday afternoon ride.

Saturday's ride was something entirely different than any group ride I've ever been on. 40+ riders, all wanting to get flogged in the woods. Good stuff in my book. I didn't take out my camera until the first major section of hiking.Everytime we stopped to regroup was a major collaboration of efforts.Riding in the shadows of Meeker's and Long's all day is a good thing. I never tire of looking up at those beautiful mountains. The county road 2/3s of the way through proved to be a leg killer. I snapped this shot from the riders view. There were as many strung out behind me as well.

After the long county road climb, several opted for the bailout and the shorter descent back to the car. I got the impression that a few people didn't quite understand what we meant by "all day". 40+ people, steep terrain, lots of stopping, and a lot of ground covered meant things would drag on perhaps longer than necessary. They did, but the singletrack was worth the wait for the patient several that sampled.Cynthia about sums it up!
Stay tuned for another big ride soon! Soon, as in next Saturday. Once again, the bike shop will be closed but for good measure. Sat June 2 is National Trails Day. We will be meeting early in the morning at Heil Valley Ranch to work on the new Wild Turkey Trail there. Hopefully, it will be very close to completion by the end of our work. If it is completed, we'll stay and ride Heil. If the trail does not get completed, we'll load up the cars and drive west in the forest for more riding. Woohoo, more riding! Can't wait, hope to see many of you out giving back to the trails.
Also for riding, this weeks ride will be on Thursday instead of Tuesday. This Thurs will be the commemorative Davetoo memorial ride (where have you been man?). We'll ride wherever he wants to ride...

Thanks for an awesome weekend Dave! I was stoked with your trail selection, and the new (to me) stuff we rode was incredible. I can't wait to get out there and ride with y'all again.

Cheers,

Great time Dave, thanks for the awesome weekend. I threw a couple of my pictures up on MTBR on the LFTF07 Pictures thread, and (some of) the rest can be found in my Picasa Gallery. Can't wait to do it all again next year!
