Redstone Cyclery/Oskar Blues @ MSC #2 - Chile Challenge

We had a good weekend in Angel Fire, NM for Mountain States Cup # 2 while you all were up here getting you LFTF epic on. I hated to miss the must see event of the Redstone calendar but that's the way things go sometimes. Yep, good fun & podium on a $550 stock GT Peace 9r

What can I say...I'm a sticker geek, yes!

Redstone's #1

sucker for stats

I had a new years resolution to keep track of my "training". I am not really training for anything, but thats not we are talking about...

I wrote a web page that I have been keeping track of all my training in, it makes colorful graphs and all the data can be exported to excel. If anyone is interested in checking it out or using it send me an email joe at inotion .

Fest Recap

Thanks to everyone that came out to enjoy another weekend o riding for Memorial Day in the Lyons area. This year's fest completely blew away expectations and everyone still managed to have a smile on their face! We'll definitely be back next year with even more goodness lined up. We did manage to take a few pics, too!
These first two pics are courtesy of Cellarat. Thanks for the great shots, Dave. His was the only camera present on the Friday afternoon ride.

Saturday's ride was something entirely different than any group ride I've ever been on. 40+ riders, all wanting to get flogged in the woods. Good stuff in my book. I didn't take out my camera until the first major section of hiking.Everytime we stopped to regroup was a major collaboration of efforts.Riding in the shadows of Meeker's and Long's all day is a good thing. I never tire of looking up at those beautiful mountains. The county road 2/3s of the way through proved to be a leg killer. I snapped this shot from the riders view. There were as many strung out behind me as well.

After the long county road climb, several opted for the bailout and the shorter descent back to the car. I got the impression that a few people didn't quite understand what we meant by "all day". 40+ people, steep terrain, lots of stopping, and a lot of ground covered meant things would drag on perhaps longer than necessary. They did, but the singletrack was worth the wait for the patient several that sampled.Cynthia about sums it up!
Stay tuned for another big ride soon! Soon, as in next Saturday. Once again, the bike shop will be closed but for good measure. Sat June 2 is National Trails Day. We will be meeting early in the morning at Heil Valley Ranch to work on the new Wild Turkey Trail there. Hopefully, it will be very close to completion by the end of our work. If it is completed, we'll stay and ride Heil. If the trail does not get completed, we'll load up the cars and drive west in the forest for more riding. Woohoo, more riding! Can't wait, hope to see many of you out giving back to the trails.
Also for riding, this weeks ride will be on Thursday instead of Tuesday. This Thurs will be the commemorative Davetoo memorial ride (where have you been man?). We'll ride wherever he wants to ride...

Tuesday Night Ride @ 5:15 w/o DC

Hey all,
Dave is buried getting the LFTF off the ground this Tuesday. Due to his lack of availability we have again decided to carry on in the spirit of Death March Dave & meet @ Redstone @ 5:15 instead of 6:00. We are planning on going a bit bigger this evening & lights are most likely a good option. We are looking at a similar ride to the one we did a few weeks back while Dave was out of town, but with the potential of adding little more distance. There are some other options on the ride: last time a smaller group did an out & back to meet us on the bigger loop. The weather looks cold & potentially wet so please packk appropriately. Resistance is futile - see you tonight. We got in a great after work ride & remained dry. A good start to Lyons Fat Tire Fest week!

I had a few pic's from Tuesdays night's super walker ranch ride & from Wednesday's Ned ride so I figured I would post 'em. Both were a great time, thanks y'all.

I also wanted to give a shout to the new Oskar Blues blog that is focusing on well...Blues, Brews & Bikes - what a shocker! Keep an eye on it for give aways & up-to-date info on what OB has been up to.

Cheers, cm

Contradiction

Saw this as I was picking up some forgotten supplies. I couldn't resist getting a picture of it. Buy at the local mega chain store, it seems.

Tuesday Nite Ride 5/15

How about Walker Ranch? Let's meet up at the Meyers Homestead trailhead, the one on the right as you're heading down the hill to the regular Walker lot. There is now a trail that connects the 2 sides of the park.

6pm we ride!

Ron and Dave's Excellent Adventure

We ran into snow around 9000' on the north face of the Twin Sisters. We had to punch thru quite a bit of snow once we got on the singletrack.
But it was worth it.

I don't think they would've imagined bicycles riding past their front porch 100 years ago.
Ron mastered the stairs at the end.
Excellent!

I dropped Mary and the girls off at the airport on Friday morning. I've been getting some riding in. Friday evening was a stroll around the Raymond Universe. I ran into snow just shy of 9000'. If anyone has been paying attention, we'll be riding this the friday of Memorial Day. The ride opens with a no warmup, stiff climb.

still climbing...
The singletrack was excellent.

I thought about riding Hall Ranch again, but I'm glad I forced myself to drive into the forest. It was certainly theraputic

Great pic's from the ride. I had a few more so I thought I would throw them up. Where to next week? Off to Nathrop MSC #1 this weekend, short track & trying to throw in some Dual Slalom if time permits.
