When it rains

There's always somewhere to ride, even if you've only got an hour and it has just rained. A few days ago, I made a trek up to the L. Once at the L, I decided that wasn't high enough so I hiked to the top of the ridge. Good views.

Of Hall Ranch

Of Lyons

And a trails that is sfd. Straight down. Of course, this doesn't do justice to the pitch. Never does.

great Tuesday ride this week!

Good thing the days are long. We took an extended play route and it worked out. Well, except for a few without lights, but it was all good. A shortcut back on the road and we were all happy campers.

Next week will be our annual Solstice Tuesday Night ride. Mandatory are lungs, legs, lights, and mad skillz. See you there. 5:30 at the bike shop. Location tba.

got some bikes for sale here

We've taken in a few consignment bikes lately. Holler (dave@redstonecyclery.com) if you see something you like :) All prices are negotiable and we'll ship anywhere.

Check 'em...

Couple year old Maverick ML8. This thing was built up and only ridden a handful of times. DUC32 fork, Thomson post, WTB ti saddle, Easton Monkeylite DH carbon bar, Hayes HFX9 brakes, ODI lock on grips, and XT/XTR drivetrain. Wheels are Chris King/Mavic 823 UST rims with Maxxis Minion tires. Rotors are 203 on both ends. Perfect bike for a big boy or an aggressive rider. Size is large.

$3400

Salsa Campeon, only a year or two old. This is a seriously sweet bike and the owner is not asking enough money for it :). Full 10sp Ultegra Compact, Nuevation wheels, Easton carbon post, Selle Italia ti saddle, Ritchey stem, Cateye computer. The fork is full carbon with with a carbon steerer to boot. The seat tube center to top is 56 with a 56cm top tube length. This is a seriously nice bike and only $1350.

And finally, Sam has decided that he likes dirt jumping and gravity better than singlespeeds and 29" wheels. He got this '08 Redline Monocog Flight (19") at the end of last summer and has only ridden it a few times. I think Sam rode it 6 or 7 times and I rode it 3 times. Box stock except for the extra pimpy chrome Race Face stem. $600

great tuesday nighter

Thanks everyone for coming out. I think that ride, to this day, was the least carnage or mechanical filled Tuesday Nighter at Lion's Gulch yet. Only 1 minor mechanical and 2 flats and we were even out by dark. dang. We'll have to try harder next time.

The climbing was tough

There was a good, not oft ridden meadow

and some fun desceding

Shredventure!

Sunset Park has the sickest jumps ever!

This is probably the biggest jump i have hit in my life, although it may not look like it.

Austin, my friend who lives up in conifer drove me all around to some fun fun new spots, we only filmed at sunset park and a little bit at the fix, but heres a little video i put together. enjoy.

Lyons DJ/Skills Park Workday June 7th

We had a good turnout to knock out more of the skills park work that needed to get done in preparation for the Lyons Outdoor Games. Thanks to everyone that came out, the progress over the past 2 weeks has been unbelievable. We got to Dig & we got to Ride....here's a taste.

Thanks again for every one's support over the last few weeks, hope to see you this weekend at the games. www.lyonsoutdoorgames.com
This weekend is going to be OFF THE HOOK! Check out the Schedule HERE.

Tuesday Ride 6/9

I think it's time to mix it up a little and head up 36 for a Tuesday nighter. How are you all feeling about either the North Sheep/Coulson loop or the infamous Lion Gulch? I'm kinda leaning toward Lion Gulch myself but I will defer to popular vote on this one. If you have a light, might want to bring it. You never know...

Day at the Park

Next weekend is time for the Lyons Outdoor Games. We'll have a bunch of cool kayaking events, chainsaw carving (?), skate competition, pump track contest, dirt jump contest, and a mountain bike short track. Whew.

Today was one of the last big build/work/jump sessions at the Lyons dirt jumps before LOG. I worked at the shop today and got over to the park when most of the work was starting to wind up. Thanks to all who were there for working and helping to get the park in shape.

Here's a few shots from the latter part...

Sam doubled the roller line.

Chad was representin the over 30s

and Sam was so chill he had to rest his hand on his knee

Tomac Carbide SL, sweet, sweet carbon

Tomacs have finally arrived at the shop!

We just got this black beauty built up for Chris.
Pimpy Chris King wheels, frame, and Magura Durin fork and an otherwise budget friendly build and this bike was at 26lbs. Sweet!
It's good to have Tomac in house and so far, feels like a great fit. We've got a large Snyper 140 frame in stock as well as a complete medium Snyper 140 for demo. Come over and check them out.

For more info on the Lyons Outdoor Games BLOG & Website.

Lyons Pump Track and Dirt Jump/Skills Park

Work day Sunday afternoon in Bohn Park. 1pm or later, I'll be there after the bike shop closes at 3. Glenn from Bitterbrush and LeeLikesBikes Lee will be there with direction. We need help shaping jumps, filtering out rocks, packing dirt, making the slalom course, and certainly riding lines in :)

Come on out to help. Here's a short vid of Pablo and Spam on the pump track.

Coulson Gulch- The out that is down and the back that is up

Ride stats for the Lyons Fat tire Fest out and back– Total distance 10.4 miles, 1919 ft. climbing, 2.5hrs total ride time with 40 minutes of that stopped according to my Garmin Edge. Only one minor mechanical- a broken power link. Excellent day!
Perfect riding day- sunny during the descent, got cloudy as we approached our turn around point, the gray skies thundered signaling our break was over, and got a smidgeon of rain to cool our bodies and lift our spirits out of the pain locker as we climbed the steepest portions of the ascent.

Flowers make the sun shine.

Chad cheering Christine and her new bike on thru
Plenty of picture taking spots

Plenty of singletrack
Lyons local Julie was rockin’ her Rock Lobster
Them bones
Dandy lion! Bambi was not the only victim. We lost a yeti within the first 100 feet of riding.
This yeti made it. Pink power- I got to get me some of that pink Gatorade
Rest stop at the base of North Sheep Mountain and our turn around point.
Someone mentioned it was Courtney’s 5th ride. Thumbs up!
Dandelion trailside repair. Bent over to tighten bolts on my cage and out came blood. Damn these bloody noses. No Kleenex no worries. Great ride all!

Daddy Time Trial Series

We have two new entries in the Daddy Time Trial Series.
Greg flew up Rt.7 for a time of 1:02.  That will be a tough one to beat.
Dave did picture rock for a record time of 1:29.  This one is fast but a lot of people will be shooting for that record.

Tuesday Ride, 6/2

Meet up at the bike shop at 5:30 for a romp in the forest west of town. Expect steep jeep road climbing, even steeper singletrack descending, and a sweet buttery singletrack climb back out. Not my intent for it to be a night ride, per se, but a charged light in your backpack may come in handy for the climb out. And we'll see who our new Tuesday night waitstaff person at Oskars will be :)

What I like Best about the Fest

I know everyone is checking in for photos of this weekends festivities and they'll be up soon. Although it is centered around the riding, this weekend's fest was also about the riders and the people. The people that made the riding great, the people that make the town great and everyone else that came out or helped out. Thanks for another kickass Fest!
